Mentorship Scheme
for Non-local Students
(MNLS) 24/25
The MNLS Scheme aims at nurturing senior students to serve as mentors for non-local undergraduate year 1 students living off-campus. Each mentor is responsible for initiating regular gatherings with a group of non-local freshmen as well as providing guidance and support to ensure a smooth transition into Hong Kong in all aspects of their daily lives.
Throughout the scheme, non-local freshmen residing in Sunny House will receive timely assistance when adjusting to new living and learning environments, while mentors will develop their leadership qualities and empathy.
WeChat Groups are created and held by mentors in 3 big groups. Students are welcome to connect with each other and question freely within the groups. With timely support and guidance on HSUHK and HK by mentors, students can truly immerse in their experience of studying and living in University and HK.
To build connection and enrich students’ experience when living in Hong Kong, mentors of each group will invite students to join regular gatherings throughout the year such as game nights, hiking day, museum visiting, cafe hopping in Sunny House and HK.This enable students to feel settled in and fully enjoy all that Hong Kong has to offer.

Sunny House residents all enjoyed a great time leading by 2 mentors respectively in 3 big groups. The evening was kicked off with engaging in-group and mass icebreaking games, followed by an introduction of the Residential College system, and helpful tips for settling in HSUHK and HK. The night concluded with a delicious feast, providing a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for everyone to mingle and connect.
It was a memorable event to set a positive tone for the residential year ahead at Sunny House.
