The Joint High Table Dinner of HSMC Jockey Club Residential Colleges was held 10 October 2017 at the College Hall. More than 500 residents from our Residential Colleges (RC) and Old Hall, RC Masters and senior management staff join with about 50 honorable guests.
The dinner was kicked off by the warm welcoming address by President Prof. Simon Ho. Dr. Patrick Poon, member of Board of Governors, Chairman of Foundation Management Committee and Fundraising and Donation Committee, was the honorable guest speaker of the dinner. He encouraged students to ignite their passions, embrace chances to explore their talents, and make contributions to their families, our community and the world.
The highlight of the dinner was the launch of “Matching Challenge”. Dr Poon generously donated $10 million to set up the “Matching Challenge” at HSMC, in which every HK$1 from donors will be matched HK$1 from Dr Poon before 31 July 2019. Dr Poon’s Challenge will apply to each donation up to HK$500,000 that support “Eco-Pledge Campaign”, “HSMC Courtyard Campaign”, “HSMC Fund Run in April 2018”, as well as student financial aid including bursary, exchange, internship and scholarship funds of HSMC.
A Chinese zither performance was played by a student representative during the dinner. All the students, guests and staff enjoyed the dinner so much and had a great time in interacting with each other.
